Default -nosound and -image

I lagged out after loading an area and during the first fight in an area, so I formatted my comp. Didn't really help. Increasing my RAM from 384 to 512mb didn't really help either. Then I saw a thread about the switches.

Last night I added -image to the target line and went to sleep. When I woke up, it had closed itself down, but my Gw.dat was still 2.7GB.

Then I tried adding the -nosound switch, but for some reason I still hear sound. Does anyone know why?

That's my shortcut now.

Problem solved. Turned out my comp was overheating. Turned on my fans and the lag was (almost) gone.

Still not sure why my Gw.dat is still 2.7GB after using the -image switch.

2.7GB is the appropriate size for your gw.dat file. I can't find the link to the thread that I read this on, but this is something that Gaile has confirmed and posted.

Just thought I'd point out that 512 mb RAM is actually a very minimal amount. I'm running on 512 and it's terrible, so I'm buying a new system. I'd at least get 1gb if I were you. Just pick up another 512 stick similar to the one you have, might cost ya $40 tops, and stick it in another one of the slots, most PCs if I'm not mistaken have 4 slots.

Like you said, that wasn't the problem, but I thought I'd just point out that your game will run much better on 1gb.
